Well, whatever you prefer, LUMS Music Festival ’15 will accept you as you are. We’ll give you Three Rounds to impress us with what you’ve got, the final round being held at the concert venue.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Ever wanted to make that dream come true where you were just in a teenage wasteland, playing with your psychedelic space rockslashDhrupad band in your parent’s garage, with all the neighbours complaining while you just wanted to keep the spirit of music alive in a world torn by war and hate? Well, this dream is partly faulty because no band practices in garages in Pakistan, but that’s alright, don’t worry; THE DREAM CAN STILL COME TRUE. Our Battle of the Bands competition provides you with the chance to perform on the concert venue each day and subsequently will let you bathe in the glory of it all, BECAUSE YOU MADE IT!

GUIDELINES

● 2 rounds in total.

INSTRUMENTAL COMPETITION

We believe mankind’s greatest discovery was to take ordinary elements, mix them around in bizarre arrangements, and then use their bare hands (or sometimes mouths) to give birth to soul-stirring sounds from them. Have you ever thought about it like that? Your ability to play any musical instrument with skill, talent, innovation and economy, despite being nothing but a speck in this vast universe of countless worlds that lie ahead, makes you a pretty cool speck in our eyes. Beethoven’s eyes will tear up with the pride he’ll feel for you, you little speck, you.

GUIDELINES

● 2 rounds in total.

● Participants must bring their own instruments, except drums. Drum parts such as snares, cymbals, and pedal can be brought by the participant.

● Judging criteria will be based on expertise and talent.

ELECTRONIC COMPETITION

Do you look up to people like David Guetta, Skrillex and DJ Butt? Do you walk up in to the club like “what up I can mix the sickest beats”? Chalo, theek hai. If you’re so sure of your DJ skillz, we here at LUMS Music Festival ’15 can’t wait to be enlightened by you at the Electronic Competition.

GUIDELINES

● 1 round in total.

● Anyone can participate, but 3 shortlisted candidates will be allowed to perform at the concert venue.

MUSIC TRIVIA

Do you know who the drummer of Foo Fighters is? Do you enjoy casually dropping facts about The Beatles when talking to your friends over a cup of tea? Or do you know the words to every song you’ve ever listened to in your whole entire life? Music Trivia may or not be the hardest question and answer session of your life. Be warned, only the most wise will rise victorious in this battle of death.
